Ex Plasmon
Strategically located, the former ex Plasmon area is close to the Porta Romana railyard around which new connections will be created.
The former Plasmon area is located in the city of Milan's new attraction pole, next to the Porta Romana railway station. A large redevelopment project is changing the face of this area of the city, also involving the Porta Romana railway station, generating new connections near the former Plasmon area.
The architectural project has been entrusted to Henning Larsen, a Copenhagen studio specialising in innovative and sustainable architectural solutions.
A series of district-buildings takes shape, encouraging multifunctional spaces and contamination between different functions. The connection with the neighbourhood is at the heart of the urban design. The arrangement of the buildings, with their portico-filter between private and public spaces, traces a central pedestrian-cycling route that cuts diagonally across the site, creating a connection between Via Cadolini and Via Tacito. The path opens into the project's beating heart and meeting point for the community, a tree-lined square where buildings and vegetation blend harmoniously. A large public garden with play areas and a green zone between the buildings and the railway contribute to redesigning the urban landscape.
A project that embraces environmental and energy sustainability, including using renewable energy technologies, state-of-the-art installations and high-performance façades, in line with the highest levels of LEED, WELL and WiredScore certification and EU Taxonomy standards.
