La Corni, Modena: construction work in progress

The first phase of the regeneration of the former Fonderia Corni area in Modena is progressing at a good pace with the construction of temporary residences for students and young professionals, scheduled to open in September 2025.

The temporary residences will be structured in two main volumes, of six and seven floors respectively, with 366 sleeping accommodations (some at subsidized prices) and 34 rooms for short stays.

The new facility, which will be managed by CX - CampusX -, will have a built surface area of over 12,000 square metres and will be located just a few minutes from the railway station and only 2 km from the University of Modena. The building will be equipped with study rooms, a communal kitchen, cinema room, lounge and meeting area, as well as a panoramic rooftop and green spaces.

Morbio Costruzioni S.p.a. is the general contractor of the initiative.

The initiative aims to give back to the city an area that has been disused for more than ten years, and is the first step in a major urban, social and environmental regeneration project destined to transform the face of the northern area of Modena.
